And when the time comes, you want to be looking your best. So we’re going to look into our bug boy Kha’Zix and see what you can do to look as dangerous as possible. I’ve gone through his cosmetics and ranked them all, based on both price and overall appeal. Let’s see what comes out on top.
6. Mecha Kha’Zix
Released: September 26th, 2012 Price: 1350 RP I’m going to be honest with you and just state that Kha’Zix doesn’t really have bad skins. So even if this skin is at the bottom of the list, that doesn’t mean it’s worth skipping over. That being said, if we go into nitpick mode, we can see that some parts of this skin haven’t aged all that well. Namely the fact that you don’t have a new recall animation, and that your evolutions aren’t as pronounced as in later skins. Your ult upgrade feels less like an evolution and more like a paint job. However, Mecha Kha’Zix does have the best isolation indicator (in my opinion), plus additional quotes and really satisfying sound effects on all of your abilities. So this one is just missing that slight bit of polish due to its age – but it’s still a valid choice overall.
5. Guardian of the Sands Kha’Zix
Released: September 9th, 2014 Price: 975 RP Thematically, I really love this skin. It just fits Kha’Zix so well. His upgraded claws are gorgeous, his wing evolution feels natural and well-designed, and the character model is just stunning. But there are a lot of minor nitpicks that just bug me – pun intended. First off, the sound effects here don’t give you that same sense of power and impact as a lot of the other skins. Secondly, the isolation circle feels somewhat mediocre, especially compared to Mecha Kha’Zix. Thirdly, the evolved R changes your base model so much that it feels like a different skin. All of that being said, this is among the cheapest skins in his arsenal. And if you don’t evolve your R (or if you like the way he looks) then it is still worth getting.
4. Championship Kha’Zix
Released: September 27th, 2018 Price: 1350 RP If you’re really into E-sports then hey, this is a no-brainer. The skin itself has more than enough Worlds flare with the color scheme, the W logo, and the backing animation. But it also has a chroma for basically every team that competed in 2018. Like seriously, the chroma selection is absolutely ridiculous. However if you’ve never watched the E-sports scene in your life, then Championship Kha’Zix loses a lot of its appeal. The character model here is really good. But there isn’t a central theme as much as there is a central color palette. Every ability is really basic, but tagged with the blue-yellow color scheme. And your evolved ult just turns you completely red, because of reasons. So if you’re not an E-sports fan, this skin will probably be at the end of your list. But if you are, I can understand how it’d be a number one spot contender.
3. Odyssey Kha’Zix
Released: October 15th, 2020 Price: 1350 RP Odyssey Kha’Zix is just a more modern Mecha Kha’Zix that substituted robots for neon lights. The character model is so cool, with a wide array of colors and intricate designs, and an ult evolve that actually makes you look even cooler than before. I especially like the design for his evolved wings, as they fit in with the rest of his character model so naturally. In terms of animations and particles, everything is in tip-top shape. The color palette for the particles matches your character model rather well. Plus your backing animation has you playing murder Tinder, and your isolation indicator is visible but not too flashy. The only minor nitpick I have is that this skin is thematically kind of ambiguous – at least if you compare it to the following skins. But honestly it’s not that big of a deal.
2. Dark Star Kha’Zix
Released: May 3rd, 2017 Price: 1350 RP There are a few things this skin does better than any other. First, it gives you a sense of power. Other Kha’Zix skins may make you feel like the top predator on Earth – but Dark Star makes you feel like an omnipotent being who snacks on planets and splits open black holes for fun. That last part isn’t even head cannon, as he literally does it in his new backing animation. Secondly, the ult. I cannot even explain how much I love the ult animation on this skin. It finally feels like it holds enough power to be called an ultimate ability. Going invisible is lame and everyone can do it. But getting sucked in by a black hole is just badass. Thirdly, the dark aesthetic. I literally has the word “dark” in the name, and everything is themed around the cosmos. So I don’t feel like I have to explain this one too much. The only downside to this skin is that some people find it a bit too flashy for an assassin that’s as subtle as Kha’Zix, which is why I couldn’t give it the throne.
1. Death Blossom Kha’Zix
Released: March 17th, 2016 Price: 975 RP There’s so much to love about Death Blossom Kha’Zix. First off, it’s the only skin that really stays true to Kha’Zix’s original champion fantasy – and it really embraces his buggy side. Secondly, this skin is among the cheapest of the bunch, while also bringing in absolutely beautiful designs and even a really cool backing animation. Thirdly, all of the animations are right where they need to be; not too flashy but still very visible. And I just love how Riot dealt with transformations in this skin. Everything feels natural. The wing evolve and the ult evolve are especially impressive, as they feel like genuine evolutions. And don’t even get me started on the W design, because it’s just straight-up beautiful. Overall, I think this skin can stand in the big leagues when it comes to particles and animations, while also being the most true to Kha’Zix and offering a really low price tag.
