The type system found in Temtem is easy to understand. Each of the 12 types does normal damage to most types, half damage to some, and double damage to others.

The game does help you keep track of a technique’s damage after you’ve used it once on a Temtem, but knowing the first time just by memorizing type strengths and weaknesses is one of the many factors that separates a good player from a great player.

Temtem Types

As mentioned, there are 12 types in Temtem. An individual Temtem can have either one or two types. The type it is affects the amount of damage it takes from different techniques in battle.

How Types Affect Damage

In a game where there are type strengths and weaknesses and dual-typing is prevalent, it’s important to know how damage is calculated under both single and dual-type scenarios.

When a Temtem is hit with a technique type it is strong against, it will multiply the damage by . 5 – effectively halving the damage. When a Temtem is hit with a technique type it is weak against, it will multiply the damage by 2 – effectively doubling the damage. When a Temtem is dual-type and hit with a technique it is both weak and strong against, it will multiply the damage by . 5 and then by 2 – effectively making take normal damage from the technique. When a Temtem is dual-type and hit with a technique it is weak against in both its types, it multiplies the damage by 2 and then 2, causing the Temtem to take quadruple damage. When a Temtem is dual-type and hit with a technique it is strong against in both types, it multiplies the damage by . 5 and then . 5, causing the Temtem to take a quarter of the damage.

Temtem Type Chart

In the table below, the outgoing technique damage is listed vertically and the Temtem type is listed horizontally. For instance, a Normal-type attack will do .5 (half) damage to a Mental-type Temtem, as you can see in the first row.
