This comes on the heels of someone trying to sell one on eBay for nearly $10,000, and MoonlightSwami flooding Twitter with previously undisclosed information regarding the new system.
A Target spokesperson told Kotaku that a slight system error resulted in some Xbox Ones being sent out early - though the vast majority will remain safe until November 22.
Another source told Kotaku that the snafu took place because some foolish clerk neglected to ascribe a release date for the non-Day One editions of the console. So the automated shipping systems sent them out as soon as they were delivered to the warehouses. Kotaku says a Target rep has yet to confirm that claim - though it would make perfect sense if that is how it all went down.
